ANGIN SI MAKHLUK SURUHAN ALLAH YANG PATUH...

Kelantan sekarang dlm musim tengkujuh, hujan turun x menentu & Amat ketara sekali peranan angin membawa hujan. Ramalan cuaca biasanya mengaitkan hujan dgn perubahan angin monsun laut & sbgnya...Apa yg pasti angin adalah makhluk Allah yg Amat patuh:

ANGIN JUGA PERNAH TUNDUK KPD SULAYMAN AS ATAS ARAHAN ALLAH:

Barut Gantung for kak long's baby

Kak  long's baby at six months. So now she's in her third trimester.

Another three months before she's due, InshaAllah.  Next week I better rearrange my schedule so that I could  begin sewing her baby's barut gantung.  I have already collected pieces of leftover materials to sew the barut gantung.

Meanwhile, my mother too has prepared a few barut gantungs for kak long.

(the barut gantung when opened, will look like above two pictures)

(it is folded like above for easy storage.....)

Barut gantung is made from pieces of leftover cloths.  Strings are attached to secure the barut gantung onto baby's stomach.  The shorter string is secured around baby's neck.  I do not have a picture to show how it is secured onto a baby.  Well, have to wait until kak long's baby is born, InshaAllah.

All my six children wore barut gantung when they were babies until they reached kindergarten.  They wore barut gantung to protect them from getting tummy wind (perut kembong) and also a flat tummy as they get older.  Alhamdullilah, it works.

Buah Nona aka Apple Custard (Ripe?)

(the red one is the ripe buah nona)

(okay, let's cut the ripe buah nona)

(here it is......wonder what it taste like)

(before slicing.....(hubby did it for me...)

(voila! Here it is......(after slicing..)

I was at Rumah Liza last weekend, and when I noticed one of the buah nona had turned pinkish red.....hubby told me "Now is the time......" hehehe......

He helped me slice the buah nona, and when I ate its flesh....it taste like.......errrr......tasteless to me.....So, hubby said, the fruit was over ripe.....Well, there are many more hanging on its branches, so, I hope, I could really eat the buah nona....correctly!!

I am wondering whether the young buah nona can be fried like the buah sukun.....Hmmmmm...

Lafaz Amin sesudah bacaan al-Fatihah

Ertinya: Apabila imam menyebut Amin, maka sebutlah Amin. Maka sesungguhnya sesiapa yang bersamaan bacaan Aminnya dengan bacaan Amin malaikat, diampunkan dosa terdahulu (Sahih al-Bukhari).

Lafaz (آمِين) Amin sesudah bacaan al-Fatihah bukanlah al-Quran yang menuntut pembacanya mengikut kaedah Tajwid. Menurut Imam al-Nawawi terdapat 4 kaedah bacaan Amin sesudah al-Fatihah iaitu:

Sunset @D'Muara Marine Park

The above pictures were taken from Chalet No.4 (sea view) at D'Muara Marine Park, Sungei Besar, Selangor.  I have been to this resort numerous times over the years with my family.  I love staying at their chalet by the sea. But on my last visit, I managed to take pictures of the sun setting in the horizon.  It was beautiful.

(the chalet (village view) at D'Muara)

I prefer to stay at either Chalet No.1 or 2, both are sea view and free wifi easily available.  Also Chalet No.3 (village view) can receive free wifi.  As for the remaining chalet, wifi is unreachable, so I have to sit at the visitors' lounge to surf the internet.  At the sea view chalet, can do fishing during high tide, but have to bring own fishing rod!

The dish rack @Rumah Liza

Now I could place all my crockery at the wooden dish rack.  I could also hang the teacups on the nails which I hammered along the upper rack.  Cute eh?!

Sunny day @Rumah Liza

Since it was sunny when I was at Rumah Liza last weekend, I took the opportunity to try out the washing machine which hubby bought.  Thus, I could hang out the laundry in the compound of Rumah Liza.

The kitchen area @Rumah Liza

(welcome.....)

The kitchen at Rumah Liza, is now complete.  In fact, I have also started cooking whenever I stayed at Rumah Liza on weekends.  Of course, the second hand furniture we bought, had to be restored, as close as possible to its original glory.

When I google looking for an almari lauk lama, I came across this blog ezanygalleria.  Then, when I contacted Ezany, he agreed to help me restore my second hand 'old' furniture.  I have two pieces of writing desk, a dining table, a small table to put my tv and three pieces of display cabinets.  All are wooden furniture during 60s era.

Ikan sembilang laut

(cover the kuali, otherwise......)

(ikan sembilang laut - minus its head - ready for deep frying)

When I went for my twice a month seafood shopping at Kg Chuah Port Dickson, I bought a kilo of ikan sembilang laut (ocean cat fish) which my son, Khairulzaman's favourite dish if cooked with sambal.

The difference between an ikan sembilan laut and ikan sembilang darat is their fangs.  Ikan sembilan laut has three, whilst ikan sembilan darat only has two.  The third fang is above its head.

When I bought the ikan sembilang laut, the fishmonger has removed its poisonous fangs.  Then, when I cleaned the fish, I would chopped off its head.....(the head reminds me of a snake!)

I would then clean the inside, removing all the blood along its bone, cut off all its gills, and then using a knife, scrapp its body, thus removing the slime.  Then, using a sharp knife, I would slice on both side its body, after which I would squeeze lime juice and salt all over it to get rid of its fishy scent.

Then I would wash it with water and drain it on a plastic strainer.  After that, I would mix the ikan sembilang laut with turmeric powder and salt and leave it for about five minutes.  I then deep fried it in a kuali...BUT, this time I make sure I covered the kuali, otherwise, my cooker and the kitchen wall and the kitchen floor will have oil splattered all over....what a mess!!

When the ikan is nicely fried and garing (crispy), I put it aside and began frying the blended dried chillies, onions, garlic, a little ginger and turmeric.  Add tomato sauce, asam keping, salt, and for more gravy, can add santan or milk.

The Verandah @Rumah Liza

The two pillars for the porch is still not ready... So, while waiting for it, our contractor did the roof for the verandah.

Tea at Batang Berjuntai

While travelling along the road at Batang Berjuntai, hubby and I stopped at this warong by the roadside.  I ordered tahu sumbat, whilst hubby ordered fried crispy bananas and sweet potatoes.

Imagine my surprise when our drinks, tea o kow kurang manis (hubby's) and air suam (for me) was served in a mug, with a plate.  These days, when we have drinks at any warong or restaurants or even mamaks, very very rare that the mugs come with a plate.

It reminds me of the good ol' days, when it was considered rude if you serve your guests drinks in a mug or cup minus the plate.  So, to the makcik goring pisang, I salute you for still practicing this tradition.  BTW, your goring pisang also sedap when dip into the kicap cili api. Yummy!!

Kuih Denderam

This kuih is one of my favourite local kuih.  I bought it at a shop along the road at Felda Sg Tengi in Selangor.  The makcik who cook this kuih is really an expert.  I love the taste, so lemak, not so sweet and crispy and it cost only RM1 per packet.

It can be eaten during tea time, or, like me, as a snack while watching television.  In my village, we call this kuih, 'telingo koling'.

Buah Nona or Apple Custard

The buah nona is getting bigger, but, when pressed, is still hard.... So, still cannot eat it lah..... Wonder how long I have to wait.....The skin has turn pinkish, yet, not soft enough to be plucked.
Patient dear, patient......hubby said.

Reverse Bungee Jump

video

My daughter, Ayeshah, attended her company's (United Engineers) Family Day yesterday at Dataran Petaling Jaya.

Being adventurous, like me, she participated in the Reverse Bungee Jump (see video above).  When I saw the video, my heart went into my mouth.  Well, if this RBJ was available when I was her age....I would definitely try it out too.

When I was at MAHA 2012, I took a ride on this swing which rotate for 3 minutes going up and down....after the ride, I felt giddy....So, RBJ is definitely not for me....

HATI2 MEMILIH KAWAN!

MAHA International 2012

 (Norehan entered first....)

(then, my turn.....hehehe.....)

Yesterday, Sofiyah and I went to MAHA 2012 at Mardi Serdang with Norehan and five of her six children.  We had breakfast at Sungei Ramal Dalam.  The warong is at the junction to Sri Abim.  The lontong was delicious.  After breakfast, we fetched Abbey, Sofiyah's buddy at her grandparent's house.

I then lead the way to the MAHA venue at Mardi Serdang. Just after Putrajaya Marriot Hotel, we turned left and, although it was 10 am, there was a long queue to enter the MAHA venue.  So, I made a u-turn and drove back into the highway.  Norehan followed from behind.

When the childrens' playground came into view, I gave the signal for Norehan to park our cars by the roadside.  Threre were only three cars parked along the road including ours.  Initially, I thought we have to climb over the locked green gate, then I saw the gaping hole on the green fencing.  Voila!! We need not climb the green gate afterall......

So, all of us squeezed ourselves through the gap and walked to the nearest tram-stop for the ride to the Exhibition Hall.  We spent about two hours at MAHA 2012 Exhibition Hall B.  Then on our way back to the hole in the fence, the children wanted to ride the spinning swing at the childrens' playground.  Norehan and I too joined them.

Both of us felt giddy after the ride....hehehe.....(age factor).  Anyway, as for Norehan's only son, Ahmad Ubaidullah, he wanted to play on the slide in the.....(don't know what to call it).  When he reached the bottom, he got all wet because of the puddle of water. Yet, he continued playing the slide.  Boys will be boys.....

When we reached the site where we parked our cars, the whole stretch were filled with parked cars.  From MAHA, we drove to Alamanda at Putrajaya.  Norehan, her children, Sofiyah and Abbey watched the movie Twilight at the cinema whilst I went to MPH to read some cookery books available there.  I have a wide collection of cookery books....my favourite is Amy Beh's cook book.

Kiki after his bath....

 (getting stoned.....)

(curled into a ball and....ZZzzzzz...)

Kiki had his bath this morning.  We bathe him with warm water in the pail.  Shampooed his fur all over and then gave him a warm shower.  He looked funny with wet fur..... Then using two large towels, we (Sofiyah and I) pat him dry.  After that, I used a mini hairdryer to blow dry him.

He than sat at the sliding door and.....curled into a ball, he slept....cute Kiki.

Rumah Liza - Tangga with mini terowong

Well, our contractor did rebuild the tangga batu.  So now, if our cucus play at the mini terowong (tunnel), they will not bump into the tiang (pillar).  We are still waiting for the remaining two carved wooden pillars for the porch, which, hopefully, will be ready next week.
